Groundwater and soil assessment was initiated as an emergency response after a release in main fuel line. Initial response included site assessment and installation of vapor and groundwater recovery wells, groundwater product skimming system, and vapor extraction system. Follow-up work included groundwater monitoring. The remedial system removed over 9,000 gallons of product from the subsurface within one month of notice of release. Over 60% of the release was recovered within six months. Cooperation with the Regional Water Quality Control Board, Air Quality Management District, and Health Department officials was gained immediately to assist in proper response. Costs were limited the recommended use of pre-existing facility permits.
